FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: (Palm Bay, FL. September 28, 2011) – The City of Palm Bay is holding their annual Mayor’s Ball on October 15th beginning at 6pm at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Palm Bay according to Heidi Lapin, director of Palm Bay parks and recreation.
The annual event has been held six times according to Lapin, with all past Palm Bay Mayor’s still residing locally invited. Proceeds go to the charity of the sitting Mayor’s choice. This year the proceeds are earmarked for Palm Bay resident student scholarships for both Florida Tech and Brevard Community College’s student nursing program.
The evening begins with a cocktail hour for sponsors and city officials followed by a full-course dinner and dancing. This year attendees will have the opportunity to have their photograph taken with current mayor, John Mazziotti.
“The City is once again committed to providing scholarship opportunities for our students,” stated Lapin. “We raised an impressive amount of money last year and expect to exceed that figure this year.”
Recipients of the scholarship funds must attend either Florida Tech or BCC’s student nursing program. Two recipients from last year will be attending the event on the 15th to speak about their experience and express gratitude for receiving scholarship funds during these economic times.

The Greater Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce is assisting with the event again this year and attendees can RSVP and purchase tickets online on the Chamber’s website, www.greaterpalmbaychamber.com. The cost is $45 per person or $80 per couple. Tables for eight can also be purchased online for $300.
The Greater Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce, formed in 1989, has more than 900 active, courtesy and prospective members and is accredited with the US Chamber of Commerce with a four-star ranking, a distinguished honor bestowed to select Chambers and the only chamber in the US aligned with an international “sister” chamber in Cashel, Ireland.
