Greater Palm Bay Chamber Plans Installation and Awards Dinner

15-Jan-2012

The GPBC has set the date for their Installation and Awards Dinner to install the 2012 Board of Directors according to Victoria Northrup, president and CEO. The event will be February 3, 2012 at Capt’N Hiram’s Resort in Sebastian beginning at 6pm. Cost is $50 per person or $80 per couple. Tables for six, eight or ten attendees can also be purchased in advance.

The winners of the 2011 Businesses of the Year will be announced that evening with categories consisting of Small Business, Large Business and Distinguished Service. The organization also recognizes the Volunteer of the Year annually at the event. The Chamber also announced that in addition to receiving an award, the winners will receive a special Congressional Certificate from U.S. Congressman Bill Posey, a prestigious certificate that the winners can frame and hang in their place of business. This is the first year the Palm Bay Chamber will be presenting the winners with this certificate and Congressman Posey, or a representative from his staff, will be in attendance to present the certificates to the award recipients.

“Our incoming board members and attendees look forward to this event and this year will be very special to the winners of the Businesses of the Year,” stated Northrup. “The addition of the Congressional Certificates will add significant importance to our Palm Bay chamber members. Congressman Posey wants to personally thank our businesses for their support of their chamber over the years and feels this is a great way to demonstrate how they play such an important role in our city.”

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy,” stated Congressman Bill Posey. “It’s a real privilege to honor local businesses that have gone above and beyond their role in making a significant investment in our communities.”

The event recognizes outgoing board members, welcomes the new board members and announces their plans for the upcoming year. Incoming chairwoman, Cindy Forstall, will deliver the results from the board retreat, held last month that consists of events to be held during the coming year.

The Greater Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce, formed in 1989, has more than 900 active, courtesy and prospective members and is accredited with the US Chamber of Commerce with a four-star ranking, a distinguished honor bestowed to select Chambers and the only chamber in the US aligned with an international “sister” chamber in Cashel, Ireland.

Interested companies wishing to attend the event or join the chamber may contact the chamber at 321-951-9998 Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm. Additional information can be found on the website: www.greaterpalmbaychamber.com.
