Larry Loschiavo and Dr. Newman Join Palm Bay Chamber Board of Directors

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: (Palm Bay, FL. September 26, 2011) – Larry Loschiavo of Health-First and Dr. Ethel Newman provost for BCC-Palm Bay campus have been appointed to the board of directors for The Greater Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce according to chairman-of-the-board Stuart Borton. The appointments are effective immediately.

Loschiavo, a Florida native and Palm Bay resident for 23 years, is an account executive in the commercial group health insurance sector for Health-First Health Plans. He is active in several organizations within the community including LEAD Brevard. Health-First is a Gold-Plus trustee for the Palm Bay Chamber and has been active with the organization for over fourteen years.

Dr. Newman, provost for BCC since 2007 is a licensed dentist having received her doctorate degree from Howard University. She is a retired associate professor of dentistry at Howard University and currently sits on numerous boards and alumni organizations. Dr. Newman relocated to Brevard County in 2003.

“The addition of Mr. Loschiavo and Dr. Newman to our board further strengthens our position within the business community,” stated Borton. “We look forward to working with each of them and plan to utilize their business expertise as our chamber continues to move forward in growth and distinction.”

The Greater Palm Bay Chamber reports a marked increase in new member applications over the past quarter, exceeding their goal by 50%. Borton credits the change in command, strong public relations and reputation for value-added membership as paramount reasons for the uptick in new member applications. Ongoing chamber events include ribbon cuttings, Business After Hours and the Monthly Networking Luncheon which meets the first Wednesday of each month at the Life Care Center of Palm Bay at 175 Villa Nueva Ave NE off Malabar Road

The Greater Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce, formed in 1989, has more than 900 active, courtesy and prospective members and is accredited with the US Chamber of Commerce with a four-star ranking, a distinguished honor bestowed to select Chambers and the only chamber in the US aligned with an international “sister” chamber in Cashel, Ireland.

The 2011 Palm Bay Chamber Trustees include Globe Wireless, Health First, Waste Management, City of Palm Bay, Done Right Contracting, Florida Power and Light Company, Intersil, Comfort Suites, WMS Construction and Yellow Book.
