GPBC Presents 2010 Business of the Year Awards

The Greater Palm Bay Chamber announced the 2010 Business of the Year recipients at the Installation and Awards Banquet held on January 14^th according to Victoria Northrup, Chamber president & CEO.

Under the category of Large Business, the 2010 winner was Life Care Center of Palm Bay. For the Small Business of the Year, Joe Raley State Farm Insurance took home the award. For Distinguished Service, Danny Timothy of El Chico’s Mexican Restaurant was the winner and Volunteer of the Year went to Natalee Stong, a long-time volunteer at the Chamber

This year the organization announced a new award, the Golden Palm, which is bestowed upon one committee that has shown exceptional growth and success throughout the year. The first recipients for the Golden Palm went to “Business Strategy” chaired by Michael Gall, Brian Spatola and Dr. Jeff MonteLeon. The Business Strategy committee was created by outgoing Chairman of the Board, George Geletko, and worked strategically to create a unique networking platform which became one of the Chamber’s most successful groups.

“I am humbled and honored that Life Care Center was the recipient of the 2010 Large Business of the Year from the Palm Bay Chamber,” stated Nancy McGoldrick, senior executive director. “We have watched our city’s chamber grow under the new management and blossom into a professional and business-minded organization.”

“Having been on the board of directors for a number of years, I have a strong commitment to the business community” stated Danny Timothy, general manager of El Chico’s Mexican Restaurant and secretary of the Palm Bay Chamber for the past two years. “To be recognized for Distinguished Service was certainly an honor I was not expecting.”

The annual event was held in conjunction with the installation of the new 2011 board of directors and took place at Palm Bay Hospital’s main dining hall with a full course meal and complimentary beer and wine courtesy of Shuttle Carts, Teri Blevins, Realtor and Zonka & Associates. Keynote speakers for the event included the Honorable A.B. Majeed of Brevard county courts and Clerk of Courts Mitch Needelman.

The Greater Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce, formed in 1989, has over 900 members and is accredited with the US Chamber of Commerce with a four-star ranking, a distinguished honor bestowed to only select Chambers. The 2010 Palm Bay Chamber Trustees include Globe Wireless, Health-First, Waste Management, Melbourne Regional Airport, City of Palm Bay, Riverside/TD Bank, WMS Construction, Done Right Contracting, Florida Institute of Technology, Intersil and Comfort Suites.
